I appeal to Members of India’s Parliament to amend the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 to incorporate the provision to criminalize the buyer of prostituted sex and decriminalize the victims of human-trafficking.

I wish that the women and girls subjected to exploitation and abuse are treated more humanely and those who seek to exploit and abuse them are punished. I also want a provision in the amended law to include budget for capacity building programmes for victims and survivors outside of shelter homes.

As long as the demand for sex flourishes supply and exploitation of women and girls will thrive.

I want to end this modern-day slavery today, for which we have no excuse! I wish to express my support to change the legislation to punish the buyers of sex.

We are striving for the inclusion of Article 5C in the ITPA (Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act)

So what is article 5c?

Any person who visits or is found in a brothel for the purpose of sexual exploitation of any victim of trafficking in persons shall on first conviction be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months or with fine which may extend to twenty thousand rupees or with both and in the event of a second or subsequent conviction with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months and shall also be liable to fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees.”

…what are you waiting for, join us and lend voice to the survivors of trafficking
